Google announced on Monday that it will be shutting down its social networking site Google+ in the coming months. The search giant said the social network continues to have low usage and engagement as well as security flaws.
Google said “the consumer version of Google+ currently has low usage and engagement,” adding that “90 percent of Google+ user sessions are less than five seconds.”
I’ve personally always enjoyed using Google+. It was definitely not a social network for everyone. It’s always mostly been a hangout for tech heads and industry people. There remains a vibrant digital marketing and SEO community on Google+.
This site gets a lot of traffic from Google+ so it will be interesting to see how that changes going forward.
